i just got a new computer for my room and ive transfered all the files i need to work on my dmod onto the new computer. the only bad thing is that the mspaint on my new computer will allow me to open jpgs and gifs and edit them but then i can only save them as bmps. i tried transfering the mspaint.exe from the old computer to the new one but it still wont let me save as jpg or gif. if anyone knows how to fix this problem please tell me. aslo the computers at my school allow you to save as jpg or gif and they are really old shitty computers so i know its not cause my new computer cant handle the image conversion or something. another thing i cant seem to open file options on my new computer. i go to view and folder options should be below refresh but it isnt there. is there another way to get into it? could i have accidently deleted it or is the version of windows i used just totally screwed up? this is pissing me off. sorry i know its not directly dink related but i cant work on my dink crap until i can get my computer working right.

I've the same problem: I've seen you can save as .gif on a computer, and when I had Win98 with my new computer MSPaint wasn't able to do it. I don't even know if it can read .gifs.It may be because of Unisys: it had a property on the LZW algorythm which is used to encode .gif pics, and suddenly woke up and said everyone who want to use it on a website or software must pay 5000$ license... So MS may have deleted the .gif codec of your version... Wyndo, you may know a bit more, as you may have had problem with Unisys: this society sue websites with big traffic and which had unregistred .gifs (e.g. wasn't made with PhotoShop, who paid the 5000$...). Tell us if you know something about this :) |

I usually use my PhotoMax when I need to convert programs, but I have a few other ideas which might work, and are easily available.MSPaint - Did you actually open the Save As Type: pull down menu? My MSPaint (vers. 5.00.1740.1) is capable of saving pictures as .jpg files as well. Also, AOL(4.0 at least) is a very useful program to me. I use it for a basic .txt creator (I don't think it can be used to create .c files, though) and as an added bonus, it can open .gif and .jpg files, and save them as .bmp, or .jpg files. Even if you do not use AOL as your ISP, you can usually get a copy of the software which is free to use. |

heres the deal.on this computer's mspaint i had jpeg and gif in the save as drop down menu thing, but the computer's mspaint in my room did not. they were both the same version of mspaint so i had no idea why one did and the other did not. then one day i decidied to install 'microsoft picture it' on the computer in my room (which i have had installed on this computer for years) and from then on i could save as jpeg and gif with mspaint, so the graphics program must add that feature to paint somehow when it is installed. dont use aol, use notepad: it saves as .txt and it saves as .c and everything else. i dont have aol but i guess i dont really need it either since i figured out how to get the mspaint rockin and rollin. peace out snakes. word to your mother. |
