I know you obviously can't sell one using dink graphics or sounds, but if all this were replaced and all the files were renamed, to disassociate your game from Dink...
Part of the reason I am doing this is to gain experience with the graphics, animations, scripts, etc. But, in the back of my mind, I would like to see my efforts work up to something profitable.
So, if I wanted to sell my game, what exactly would I have to replace besides the graphics and sounds. Does the version # have to come off too? What else?
I'm not greedy by any means. I just don't have any money to invest in software, so I have to use everything that is made free on the internet.
Either way, I'll still finish my game. I've got a long way to go!

You'll want to contact sethable@rtsoft.com for exact details. You *can* sell a D-Mod because the user would already have Dink and all the graphics. If you wanted to release a stand-alone game, you'd have to package the dink "engine" too (even if you replaced everything else) and that would require negotiations with RtSoft.

I am trying to create a profitable DMOD for the same reason, my Dad died 6 years so you know what is the life...

Anyway, Seth told me that it is only important to replace graphics and sounds, you don't have to replace names... and of course, you can use all scripts used with Dink Smallwood... so you can only replace graphics and sounds... also, he said that it is enough if you just modify graphics, so you can for example completelly change it's colors but you have to put RTSOFT credits in your credits section... After all, I am not quite sure what to expect, after all, I am only 15, so I can't open my bank account, but I will try to do that with my mother, so if someone can give 15$ for card/casino game, why couldn't he give 25$ for interesting RPG game... Just expressing my thoughts... So if I pick up some money to be able to publish my Audio Album, I will do DMODS for free... I am not greed, and I don't expect much, but our finantial status is really really poor...

Another question, how do you get it published? How much does that cost? This is probably an ignorant question, but how do you put the game on CD and then who do you sell it to?

Dink Smallwood is now freeware but RTsoft still owns Dink and all
materials within, including but not limited to Graphics, Sounds
and concepts. (you may NOT use any of dink's original graphics
and sounds in any project that you charge for without prior
permission from RTsoft Inc.. except for DMODs (Dink Modules that
require the Dink engine to run), in which case you can charge what
you wish. )

But also:

Dink may not be repackaged in any way. You may distribute it in its
unmodified form freely as long as no fee is charged.

There goes your hacked version of dink.exe, Kornelije :)

Someone2, you think you are smart, but when you see Dryx.exe instead of dink.exe and my project runable without having a Dink Smallwood installed, you will ask yourself why the hell do you live for... you have to know how to handle some things in your life...

grr, you said yourself that you are going to hack dink.exe and distribute it - that's distributing a modified version of Dink.

Think before you post.

I didn't tell I will hack the version. I said that I will use the version of dink.exe called dryx.exe which will be able to run only my DMOD. So, Dink Smallwood won't have anything to do with it...

If you use Seth's program or modified program, you breack the license you agreed when installing the game ;)

Yeah, but if you get Seth's ok, then you could use it right?
