I think it's possible as there's a movie in Dink demo and Dink CD game.On the Dink Network, there's a tutorial, DMOD Movie Example, and you may read it when Dukie have replaced it (the file is corrupted, and he said he's working on it, read a earlier post). |

Still working on it :)It is possible, but people who've tried it have experienced problems with it.. The d-mod movie example is about a movie using the dink c engine, so not an avi |

In the demo (because I don't have the Dink CD :( ...) I saw a dmovie.exe or something like this. But as the demo scripts are in .d, I don't know if this program is called directly from dink.exe or from a script.I found also mention of avi in this post (use "see the last year posts"): - Playing AVI's (Radish) - avi's (Sphinx) Well, there aren't any real final reply, so I don't know what to think. redink said we must do a frontend which plays the movie (I think that what I see in the demo). In the other post, it's said that there're a sort of play_avi command commented out by Seth, which may have been erased from the freeware version. Those who try do play an avi should express theirselves here so as to understand how to do this. Did someone mail Seth about it? And Dukie, about the CD version, in the Seth's interview it's said: [blockquote]It's sold out. To everybody who wants to buy it but can't, expect a big announcement on the subject soon.[/blockquote] What is this announcement? I didn't find anything about it. |

To anybody who have the CD version with the movie, can they tell here how the movie is played, it'd help.I tried with the playavi() command, but it quite crashes the game. Thanks for your help! |

Wow... I haven't been on the forum in a long time. And the only reason I came back was to ask about playing movies within the game, and when I look the first post is about it. Wow...thats pretty funny. Uh, yeah. I really want to play movies, so if anyone hasn't e-mailed seth yet, i will. |

In the official message board, WC posted this: In Response To: Re: Movies by Kyle quote:
It's not impossible [to play movie], I did it once, and I belive that seth put a rtsoft.avi file in the beginning of the demo. I can't remember the exact code, but you may e-mail seth @ seth@rtsoft.com --WC

Originally I had intended to allow movies from inside the game using "playavi("anim\rtlogo.avi");" for instance. But, there were some technical glitches so I moved it to a seperate exe that can only be used at the beginning (it was the only place I was going to use it anyway)I was thinking it worked but had no sound and ruined sound in Dink until restarted, but I just tried the command (it's actually in start.c but commented out) and it crashed and went crazy so maybe it doesn't work at all, at least not in Windows 2000. Thanks, Seth A. Robinson, CEO Robinson Technologies, Inc. www.rtsoft.com Well, i'm not sure what to think of that except, well, damn i really wanted to play AVIs maybe there still is a way I'm gonna go look at start.c
