Ok, I'm making a boomerang using the sprite in Dink. I made it so he throws it, and when it hits something, or gets to the edge of the screen, it comes back. But, there are a few problems

1)On the way back, its brain is 9 (so it can have a target) Is it possible to still have it hit enemies?

2)The shadow looks like a boomerang, but it isn't animated. Is there a way to animate it, but still have it follow the boomerang?

3)On the way back sometimes it gets stuck. Is there a way to make it go through hardboxes?

4)To make it dissapear, i made the touch damage -1 and put void touch, active 0. How do I make it so the boomerang has an easier time hitting me?

Thanks for all the help! You guys are great =)

I probably used to know the answer to all these things.

As for not getting stuck on hardboxes, there should be some sort of set_hover command... or a property where you set it to be hovering. Check the monster script for "dragons" which hover, and that might help.

For the shadow, you might be able to sync two sprites if you were manually moving them, or (and I don't recall there being such a thing) if there is some sort of "on-move" script you can call each time the boomerrang itself moves. If not, try making the shadow circular (a common cop-out, but it works).

1) If it's brain is still 9 then yes it probably can.

2) Check out the goblin's hammer script in POTA for the shadow thing.

3) The only way to do it that I know of is to use a method similar to dinkanoid where it uses a loop to manually move the sprite pixel by pixel. There's probably another way.

4) Not sure if I understand the question. Is it missing you when it comes back or is it a touch damage problem?

On the way back, it misses me sometimes, so it kind of moves around me a bunch.

And for the flying thing, I did set it on flying, but that only goes over blue hardboxes.

I tried just making the shadow its own sprite, and it works, but on the way back it takes a different path sometimes. It just looks cheesy the way the boomerang comes back. Is there a way to make it come directly to me? (As the crow flies)

you may try freezing the screen and having the boomerang seq run quickly and move out and back along symetrical paths always returning to the point it was released. This voids the effect you were looking for I'm sure but it will work.

Yes, that is a good idea, and I think I'll have to do that. I was hoping to be able to do the zelda thing where you do specail manuevering to hit stuff across pits, but I will probebly have to do that.

thanks
