This might be a really stupid answer, because I have not understood your question correctly. But I think this is what you want.

Edit a file called (In wordpad):

DMODNAME.bat

Now put these lines in that program

cd\
cd dinksm~1
dink.exe -game DMODNAME

I hope you know enough about dos to find the correct directory. I just assumed the game is in the Dink Smallwood directory on your hard drive.

Now all you have to do is to make a new shortcut on your desktop which runs the dmodname.bat program.

Sorry if this isn't what you needed.

Use the line dinkedit.exe -game DMODNAME
If you want to start the editor.

It might also be easier to copy the dink.exe and dinkedit.exe files into you dmoddir and just making a shortcut to those on your desktop. That would actually be much easier :-)

i put the crapage in dmod.bat and then made an icon leading to it. all it does is open the text file.

Did you check to see if Edit didn't add the .txt extension ? Making it dmod.bat.txt

Otherwise try editing the properties of the icon and instead of making it start dmod.bat don't add the extension just make it start dmod .

And you can also try copying dink.exe and dinkedit.exe to your Dmod directory and then drag their icons on your desktop and rename them.

BAT(ch) files require an MS-DOS prompt, which sucks. Here is a better way.

1. Right-click on the Win95/98 desktop, select New, then Shortcut.

2. Click the browse button, and go into your Dink Smallwood directory, and double-click on dink.exe. DO NOT HIT NEXT

3. Now you should have something like "c:\program files\dink smallwood\dink.exe" in the command line box. Make it like this (with the quotes, and dmod as your D-Mod name):

"C:\program files\dink smallwood\dink.exe" -game dmod

4. Hit next and follow the rest of the instructions. Once you're done with the dialog box, double-clicking on the icon should start up your D-Mod.

You can also do this with Dinkedit. Just replace Dink.exe with dinkedit.exe in the above steps.
