i need some help with my d-mod, the thing is i want to transfer some map#s from my old d-mod to a newer one. so i hit 'l' in the dinkedit program and it says to enter the path to the file of my old d-mod. i enter the path and hit enter but it just returns me to the main screen. how do i transfer map screens with the 'l' function? also what program do i need to edit my dmod.diz file? thats it, thanks -josh

For screen-copying, you need to enter the full path. I type this when I want to copy a screen from the original game:c:\dink\dink\ If you have it in the default directory, then type c:\program files\dink smallwood\dink\. P.S., If this doesn't work, type try leaving the last slash out. Sometimes that makes a difference. You can open the dmod.diz file with any text-opening utility, such as notepad (which works good). There are also a couple of utilities laying around that just open dmod.diz files. |

Oh, and replace the last "dink" in the filepath with your old D-Mod name, like "mouse" or something. |

Because I recently used the Copy Screen command (for Lost in Dink^4) and hadn't used it for over a year, here is how you use it.1. Move the map-square selector over the map square you wish to make a copy on to. 2. Press the L key and type in something like this: c:\dink\dmodname\ Make sure you have the trailing slash. Then Press enter. 3. On the new DinkEdit screen (which should look like the D-Mod you loaded) press enter on the screen you want to copy. 4. Tada, you're done. The screen should be copied now. |
