Hi, is there any way that you can alter screen brightness via Dink C, ie. so i can make "night" where the brightness is dimmed to make it look dark??

Not really, but check out redink's lantern demo (should be in the author section at the dink network for an idea of how to do something similar).

I did something like this too, in Elemental Peace, although it's one of those cool things most people usually won't see. If you enter the elemental halls before you get the 5th element or whatever it was, there is an energy screen that floats above the screen. You could do the same thing - just make a 640x480 image as a black/white checkerboard pattern and set it to appear above everything. voila -- a screen that's 50% darker. You could fill in more black to make it appear darker.
