Howdy, all.

I've been working on a simple DMOD to use as a demo with a job application. I was looking at the files in order to package them up onto suitable media, and noticed that my MAP.DAT file was HUGE. Over 60 Megabytes. I looked at the MAP.DAT for the original Dink, and it was 10 Meg. My world only consists of about 30 screens tops, and I don't think I have excessive sprites. I have only modified one sprite graphic.

Has anyone else had this happen to them, or know why it is? I've been thinking I'll try creating a new directory, and copying each screen to the new file using the copy mechanism in dinkedit, but that's a bit laborious. Any ideas?

I just looked and the one I am working on is 62 Megs. My guess is that when you compile it that the Map file will be a lot smaller.

This has happened before. I don't know what causes it though. I think the only way to fix it is make a new map and screen-by-screen copy from the old map to the new one (very time-consuming). There might be a "map nuke" program by ManaUser that might work too. I've heard peoption mention this problem before.

This happened to me too, twice. Like Wyndo said though. Just create a new dmod and then copy every screen over (and I had over 600 screens on mine to copy, this was with Prophecy)
