Topic: Maybe not split it into 2 forums, but how about changing it to author's forum?

Well frankly this forum right now is just an underused message board with a cool script. But it'd be cool as an author's forum so though their might be newbys questions, they'd be about DMOD making (hopefully). I sympathize with all the people who freeze when fighting Seth and all ... but it'd be nice to have forum just for DMOD making

Well by 'it' I meant the forum, though you could probably tell ;) |

I'm not going to tell people it can only be used for D-Mod programming questions though. There just isn't enough chat to make it worthwhile to make it just a programmer's forum. I think it's a lot better allowing any Dink topic. If I didn't, it would get even less use than now. :( |

You sure about that? Right now very few people come... more people might if it was all DMOD questions. |

But why? That makes no sense. Limiting the forum to just one narrow thing (D-Mod questions) would mean *fewer* people would come. Right now, people can come here and post D-Mod authoring questions if they like. Saying "you can *only* post authoring questions here" just doesn't seem to help, since it's for authoring questions already... |

Cause people would have a reason to come here if it was all DMOD questions! IT would be different than all the other forums. Well that's just my opinion... do what you want. |

Up until the new year, it was 2 separate forums (a general forum and an author's forum). Neither one got much use. When I had to upgrade to a Y2K-compliant UBB and lost all the messages, I decdided just to make 1 Dink forum here since neither had gotten much use. Surprisingly enough, since I did that, the conversation here (while still not much, really) has quadrupled. It seems that I did *something* right, because there wasn't this much chat when there *was* an author's forum. But, I dunno. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, only that I'm so busy I rarely have time to answer programming questions and I hate to tell people there is a forum just for getting D-Mod questions answered when nobody is around to answer them... are there enough people willing to help people with questions, you think? Mike. |

Actually alot of DMOD authors seem to check the forum, I've seen some replies by redink1 and Dukie. But I dunno. Personally just wanna have a forum without one goblin sanctuary post, and I think others might too ;) |

LOL well I can certainly understand that. :) I'll have to think on it. It seems to get much more use now that it's a single forum than it did as two... but that could be coincidence. I'll think on it. :) |
