posted 01-18- 03:58 PM CT (US) Is there any way to make a sprite that doesn't move but can still die? I gave a sprite brain 6 and 10 hp and set the base death (does it have to be a factor of ten, I set it to 164) and I punch it all I want in the game but it won't die! Why not?

Try giving it a sprite brain of 9 (or 10), and not setting a base_death. The base death is for whole 10-space 'blocks' of sprites, like the pill bug death sprites take up only two of the ten, and the other dead sprites are similar. Not setting it creates a blow-up effect, like when you kill the pigs.
That should work... (hopefully)

New question. Some of the friendly village types can be killed. How do I make it so they're dead body appears when they die? The dead body is in the base walk sequence, so if I set the base death to the same number and kill them in the game, they just walk around and then vanish. How do I specify the exact sequence to be used?

P.S. With brain 9 won't it try to move?

What's sad is I used to know the answers to *all* these things.
Basically you use the exact same technique that you use for creating a barrel that Dink can punch and kill. The last frame gets "printed" onto the map so that when dink returns, the barrel is still squashed. There *should* be an explanation of this in Dinkc.txt and the same idea would work for people who die and stay dead.
